Evan is an 19 year military veteran and an active duty member of the US Army Special Forces. With 44 months of combat experience, all to the Middle East, he continues to serve his country in between races and spending time with his family.

The Army considered all of these as "combat zones" during time of deployment, despite some of them having a low threat level.
When not racing OCR, Evan spends much of his free time training in martial arts.

-Aplomb Martial Arts (blend of Shaolin Kempo/Kung Fu and some BJJ) (Brown Belt 1st Degree)
-Combatives OIC for 1st Infantry Division
-1st ID All Army Combatives Team (Alternate Welterweight)
-Certified at the basic level (Level 1: 2009 and BCC: 2023) in the Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP)
-Self teaches traditional martial arts weapons using YouTube videos and books
-Actively training in:
-Jeet Kune Do
-Kali
-Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
since June of 2021
